Tell the audience about your role at “Anderson Live”…
I run my own business, Central Talent Booking, and we work side by side with the producers of “Anderson Live.” Our talent bookers were involved in organizing and booking the Madonna hour, the Angelina Jolie cast show, Dolly Parton, and Janet Jackson for Season 1. But we were also involved in setting up satellites with “Dancing with the Stars” castoffs, Adam Levine from “The Voice,” and more. We play a variety of roles.
What have you and Central Talent Booking been busy doing this summer?
This summer has been extremely busy for Central Talent Booking. In June, we traveled with Anderson to L.A. for two days meetings with different people in movies and television about who would make great guests on “Anderson Live.”
Who is booked for Season 2? Anyone you can tell us about?
We are happy to have a lot of people booked already. In the first couple of weeks we have about three movie cast shows. Executive Producer, Terence Noonan, Anderson, and I have all been involved in looking at movies and choosing movies that we believe are appealing to the “Anderson Live” audience. One of which is “Arbitrage” with Richard Gere, who will be on the show with the film’s cast.
Also a movie already getting Oscar buzz, “End of Watch” with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña — who are both getting a lot of buzz for their performances. Jake will come on with Michael to talk about their film.
All three movie casts are coming, but I never like to say anything is booked until they’re in the chair. But so far so good! They are the movie events of September that we feel are really quality films that have great stories… that have great stars, who are very current/topical water cooler — which defines what we’re going for in Season 2.
During Season One, what was the feedback from celebrities?
Celebrities/stars have tremendous respect for Anderson. They know, with Anderson Cooper, what you see is what you get. He is an extremely smart, informative, curious, and well respected. He has enormous credibility and they trust him. They know he’s respectful of their privacy. He asks questions that are informative as opposed to tabloid-y. They appreciate the way he has a conversation with them.
What are you most excited about for Season 2?
I think that “Anderson Live” has everything it takes to be the top daytime show in America. He is extremely likeable. He is extremely smart. It’s like having your super smart friend come into your house every day and informing you of what’s going on in the world — whether it’s fun stuff or celebrity stuff or information stuff. The viewer trusts him. He is a good choice amongst the many choices on television. He also has a good sense of humor.
“Anderson Live” begins Monday, Sept. 10.
